With an initial goal of improving my fitness level, I started running and cycling during 2009.  Since then I’ve caught the triathlon bug.  I enjoy the competition and daily training routines of the sport.  Running has become my “zen” time.  Friends ask me how I can run so long without headphones, so I try to explain the beauty in “feeling” the landscape and life around me, but not many seem to get it.  I think an early morning run on a weekend would convince them.

I have a vision of completing an Ironman event in the coming years.  Perhaps this came about from a recently completed half Ironman, but regardless, I’m looking forward to the challenge.  The idea of swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles, then running a marathon sounds so appealing.  For me, the longer distance races are a competition between me and the course.

I am married to a women who has exposed me, a farm boy, to so much.  We have a son that puts a smile on my face every day and another little one on the way.  Life is good!
